Not standing opposite Kareena in Udta Punjab: Alia Bhatt

Actress Alia Bhatt, who has starred with Shahid Kapoor in romantic comedy film Shaandaar, says she will feature in her own story in upcoming film Udta Punjab and will not be “standing opposite” Kareena Kapoor Khan in the film.
I'm not standing opposite her (Kareena) in Udta Punjab. There are four different tracks in the film. Her track is different from mine. Similarly, Shahid and Diljit Dosanjh will have their own track,” Alia said.
Udta Punjab, which is currently under production, will be the first time when Alia will star alongside another actress in a film.
Asked whether she feels competitive in Bollywood, the daughter of film-maker Mahesh Bhatt and yesteryear actress Soni Razdan, said, “Competition is inevitable in life. But I don't think that one should pay too much attention to what all is happening around. We are all happy people doing good work and just proud and happy for each other, in fact.”
So does she feel any pressure being a star kid?
Alia replied, “When I made my debut, I didn't make it in my family production. So it has nothing to do whether I come from a film background or not. Secondly, my expectations and pressure that I feel is to please the people who watch and appreciate my work."
"I just wish to please them (audience) and keep them happy. I try and hope to do as many versatile characters as I can.”
Alia started her career with Student Of The Year and has since impressed cine-goers with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, 2 States and Highway.

Did the Shaandaar debacle shock Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt?

#

The much talked about and highly anticipated destination wedding film Shaandaar released last week. However, despite enjoying an extended holiday weekend, the film has underperformed at the box office and how. Contrary to expectations, Shaandaar that was estimated to be one of the biggest money spinners this year has turned to stone.

In fact if the lead pair's twitter profiles are anything to go by, then it certainly seems like they have gone into hiding, with their last tweets being just before and on the day of the film's release. But it isn't just their obvious absence from the social networking site that reveals their lost spirit in the film. In fact we also hear that the makers of the film have since cancelled quite a few promotional events that were scheduled to be held over the weekend.

With this disaster and the stars quite evidently going into a depression mode, the usual blame game has begun, with questions being raised on whether Vikas Bahl's Queen was just his one off fluke success and that he has majorly failed as a filmmaker this time, or is it that the distribution team at Fox Star Studios has failed to capture the essence of the film, or was it the marketing and PR teams that over sold the film to the masses. However apart from these questions, another one that is being asked is that how was such a concept and script approved by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, since the company is known for its high quality content.

On the other hand, the reasons that are said to be the strong causes of the film's underperformance are the highly negative reviews and the low key word of mouth that proved disastrous to the film. However, despite opening on a high note last Thursday, the film has shown a gradual but steady drop in overall box office collections. Adding to their woes, today being Monday, a day when usually every film's box office collections show a dip, we wonder what will be the fate of Shaandaar at the box-office.

Shaandaar’ box office collections: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt starrer earns Rs 20.65 cr

'Shaandaar' box office collections

Shaandaar’ box office collections managed to rake in Rs 20.65 crore by day 2.Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer earned a whopping Rs 13.10 crore on opening day but dropped to Rs 7.55 crore on day 2.  The film gathered a decent crowd in the morning shows with an occupancy rate of around 35% to race towards a day 1 triumph. And this it managed despite most reviewers panning the movie but day 2 box office collections took a nose-dive.
A good release date, great hype and publicity, striking chemistry between the lead pair and a solo release- Shaandaar had everything working in its favour. Yet the film could hardly make enough use of all that. But the good news for Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor is that ‘Shaandaar’ has become the highest opening for both the actors!
‘Shaandaar’ opened well at the box office due to the Dussehra holiday across the country on day 1. The film enjoyed a good opening at major cities, including Mumbai, Delhi and others on day 1 but the drop in box office collections on day 2 is huge. Shahid and Alia’s film had an amazing buzz before it hit screens and it was expected to create a storm at the box office.
Though on a positive note, ‘Shaandaar’ has tattered the opening day’s box office collections of superstars like Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ and ‘Gabbar Is Back’, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and Kapil Sharma’s ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’, making it the sixth highest box office opener of 2015.
From average to negative reviews for the film, and critics almost panning the film, ‘Shaandaar ‘ is not expected to grow on a good word of mouth now. The box office collections might plunge over the weekend and the film now needs to maintain a consistent figure in the next two days to put up a good show at the box office.
‘Shaandaar’ is directed by Vikas Bahl who is still enjoying the legacy of his film ‘Queen’, which was a huge blockbuster. The film also stars actors Sanjay Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor and also a special appearance by Karan Johar.

Alia Bhatt: I am Not Taking Away Anybody Else's Work

Alia Bhatt

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt said that she is not taking away anybody else's work.

Alia made her debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar's 2012 film Student Of The Year.

She will soon be seen in Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar co-starring Shahid Kapoor. Apart fromShaandaar, Alia will also be seen in Kapoor And SonsUdta Punjab and Shuddhi.

"I am not taking away anybody else's work. I am very happy to be working with so many talented directors and writers, who are penning scripts that are interesting for me. I think each character that I have played and am playing in my upcoming films are different from each other. So I am genuinely feeling very fortunate as that is something I always wanted to do," said Alia.

The actress is happy in her own space and is glad that she does not have to run after filmmakers.

"I also believe that directors come to me if they think I suit the part. I am not running to people saying, this film is mine, give it to me. I never say, I wish I was in that film, because every actor is suitable for a particular film," added Alia.

The Highway star said that her life is now completely about work.

"I would like to believe that I have not changed fully but definitely my life is now completely about work. Now all I can see is movies, movies and movies. I think that's a mirror image of my personality," she said.

Alia also said that she loved working with Shahid in Shaandaar.

"It was very exciting to work with Shahid, Pankaj (Kapur) sir, Vikas and Sanah. Shahid's real family is my family in the movie so I have taken away his family. Shaandaar is a fun, fairy tale film because it has a very dreamy vibe. It has a lot of quirk also," added Alia.

Shaandaar is scheduled to release on October 22.

Alia Bhatt Would 'Love' to Play This Pakistani Singer in Biopic

Alia Bhatt

Actress Alia Bhatt says that she would love to do a biopic in which she can explore herself more as an actor and the person that comes to her mind is Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan.

"I did not think much about it but I think I should do it now," Alia told reporters at a media interaction in Mumbai.

"I would love to do biopic on Pakistani pop sensation Nazia Hassan who died at an early age of 35. She was a singer and I am a singer too, so it will be interesting," she added.

There are many filmmakers who are making biopics on several personalities from different walks of life. From Sushant Singh Rajput's M.S Dhoni , Emraan Hashmi's Azhar, Aamir Khan's Dangal to Rani Laxmibai which stars Kangana Ranaut, the list is endless.

Alia, who will be next seen with Shahid Kapoor in Shaandaar also says that the actor is an amazing dancer.

"Shahid is such a good dancer and I have to work hard to reach his level on screen," she said.

The film is slated to release on October 22.

Alia Bhatt visits Sidharth Malhotra's house; reaches before the 'Kapoor and Sons' actor

Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra have been in news for long thanks to their rumoured love affair.
Recently, Alia seemed to give her alleged boyfriend a surprise by visiting his residence. Sidharth has just got back from abroad after wrapping up a schedule of Nitya Mehra's "Baar Baar Dekho".

However, the "Shaandaar" actress herself was in for a surprise as she reached Sidharth's residence much before his arrival. Though the two have never confessed their love on camera, much has been said about their relationship status.  Meanwhile, Alia's "Shaandaar" co-star Shahid Kapoor had sort of revealed the little secret. In an interview, Shahid candidly said that one thing he does not like about her is that her phone is always busy and she never takes his calls.
Revealing the reason behind Alia's phone always being busy, Shahid further added, "she is always talking to sid-marketing", and this remark left Alia blushing.
Although Shahid didn't take any names as such, was he talking about Sidharth?
In other news, Sidharth was in Glasgow for the shoot of "Baar Baar Dekho". The film will see a fresh pair of Sidharth and Katrina Kaif romancing each other for the first time.
It marks Mehra's directorial debut. She has earlier worked as an assistant director in several films, including "Life of Pi", "Don" and "The Namesake".
Backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's production banner Excel Entertainment, "Baar Baar Dekho" is scheduled to be released in 2016.
Sidharth is also working in "Kapoor and Sons" which also has his alleged girlfriend Alia. The two will be seen on silver screen together after their debut film "Student of the Year."
Meanwhile, check out the above slideshow to see photos of Alia reaching Sidharth's residence before him.

Here's how Alia Bhatt and Tiger Shroff react to the jokes and memes on them

Tiger Alia

Tiger Shroff and Alia Bhatt have something else in common apart from being industry kids and a glitzy debut. Another thing that connects them is the number of jokes and memes made on them. While jokes on Alia started after her boo-boo during the rapid fire round on Koffee With Karan, Tiger has been at the receiving end of barbs for his slightly effeminate looks — fair skin, long hair and pink lips. Do these jokes affect them?
Alia answers, “Initially, I felt that people are just being too judgemental about one statement. I reacted each time I was made fun of.” But when she realised it wasn’t going to go away, the actress then found a way to deal with it.
She decided to laugh at herself along with the others. She responded with a video, in which she made fun of herself, “I decided to take it in my stride and just move on. Big deal! People will keep asking me these questions for life and I can’t let this thing affect me forever.”
Now she has reached a stage where the jokes don’t bother her anymore. “They’re still making jokes about me. There has been no change there. But let them happen, because I credit a lot of my popularity to these jokes. I am famous in Singapore because of these jokes,” she laughs.  “I don’t want people to change their outlook towards my films. They can think I am stupid, but just come and watch my films. That’s all.”
Tiger, on the other hand, has a point to prove. “People say random things about me, like, he looks like a girl, he’s got pink lips, he must be gay and God knows what else. Initially, I was really dejected because of what was being written about me. But thanks to such criticism, I am working harder. I don’t want to be a part of the crowd and do what everyone else is doing. I would rather be in a zone of three-four people who are trying to do things differently. And slowly, the outlook of people towards me will change,” he smiles.
Aamir Khan, who’s the latest victim of online trolling should take a few lessons from these youngsters!

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to suffer from a medical condition in 'Shaandaar'

Shahid Kapoor Alia Bhatt

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer "Shaandaar" will throw light on a medical condition -- insomnia. Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterised by difficulty in falling asleep.
Vikas Bahl's "Shaandaar" has a twist that the makers had kept under wraps till now. Shahid and Alia will play the role of two insomniacs.
"Yes, it is true. Shahid and Alia are playing characters who are suffering from insomnia, which is, inability to get sleep. Insomnia is something most people have gone through at some point in their life which makes the film and their characters extremely relatable," said director Vikas Bahl in a statement.
The makers of "Shaandaar" have also included an old song from the 1958 film, "Post Box 999", which goes well with the concept of insomnia.
"Apart from being a destination wedding film, 'Shaandaar' is about this story of two insomniacs. Shahid's and Alia's characters don't get sleep at night, so the makers of the film bought the rights of the popular track from the 1958 film 'Post Box 999', 'Neend Na Mujhko Aaye' (picturised on Sunil Dutt and Shakeela). For 'Shaandaar', the romantic number has been recreated by Mikey McCleary and picturised on Alia and Shahid. The song, originally sung by Hemant Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar fits perfectly in this film about insomniacs," added a spokesperson in the statement.
Along with Shahid and Alia, "Shaandaar" also features Pankaj Kapur and Shahid's sister Sanah Kapoor. The film is slated to be released on 22 October.
